Montana Fly Fishing

All rivers are really close. This will take some of the pressure off the upper Root and West Fork. Today the Blackfoot is @ 4100. The Clarity on both the BF and the Clark Fork at Milltown Park is about 2 feet vis. (See Photo). Down there I spotted a couple of Salmon Flies. And not many cases on the branches. This would logically indicate the hatch hasn’t quite yet begun, or its an off year for the bugs.
Over on the Root the fishing has been good with the action fairly consistent on top. Tho a nymph rig will out fish drys 2 to 1.
Things are starting to get busy everywhere so choose your float wisely.
The Clark Fork above Missoula is @ 6900. And 2460 on the Root in Darby.Fishing Report Missoula Montana
