What’s going on right now is something we don’t see very often. rivers are running lower.Much lower than we typically have this time of year. Also clarity is outstanding. And fishing has been really good. Most likely due to the fact that a good bit of our snowpack is already gone. This isn’t the best news for late summer, but it also means we may have some epic early summer fishing.
Often the reason the Salmonfly hatch doesn’t pan out is due to poor clarity the last 2 weeks of June. That’s not going to happen this year. We could be done with runoff for the most part end of the second week of June. When we have high water with good clarity it pushes the big fish in the slower water along the banks and if the clarity is there so is the good topwater action.
If you wondering if it’s worth getting out right now the answer is yes. If you wondering on when to come out this year the answer is the second half of June.
