Looks like the blanket of winter is being pulled back. While we had a slow start snowfall wise in December. January and February have more than made up for it. With 100% snowpack in the area this puts in a much better position than we had last year. Hopefully we have a wet cool Spring and maybe no regulations on the rivers this summer. We can hope.
The good news lately is the rivers have started to bump and ever so slightly warm a little. This will get the nymphs rolling down the river and hopefully wake a few trout up. With continued 50 degree days we could even be looking at some drys in the next couple of weeks. Also with the warmer weather start to anticipate more boats on the river, as everyone is itching to shake off their Cabin Fever. Please keep in mind the jams that were easy to see coming low water. Become a bit more tricky as water levels come up. You don’t have as much time to see them coming with faster river flows. AND… the water is much colder than late summer. Falling in with waders that fill up, can be a much different situation than wet wading and just going for a swim. So please be careful.
That being said, we should be in store for some solid fishing from now until the end of May.
