Montana Fly Fishing

IMG_1055Both the weather and the fishing is hot right now. Doesn’t matter if you want to fish dries up Rock Creek or streamer fish on the Blackfoot or Clark Fork. Right now is primetime for the big boys.
Water up on the creek is clear and still a good number of Salmon flies. The Blackfoot also has good numbers of the big bugs, but often a caddis will out fish them. Blackfoot has a few feet of vis, and running a tinge of Glacier Green. I think this is the best time of the year for big chases on streamers.
Also don’t overlook the Clark Fork. There eating on top and sub-surface. With less pressure angler wise.
PS: there is a pattern called a San Juan worm that will also catch fish too.
